The Humboldt Speed Skating Club is the home of Canadian National Team, Olympic and World Cup skater William Dutton. The club is also home to several Canadian Age Class Champions and numerous Canadian medalists. Oh yeah, we claim the 'Spoon' Jeremy Wotherspoon too; he was born in the Humboldt Hospital.

Burner Bernhard North American Champ
(Salt Lake City) From his first race of the meet there was never any doubt that Nathan Bernhard would be the North American Intermediate Champion of 2006. Burner smoked the competition winning all four distances and the overall championship to finish the weekend with a perfect record.
Bernhard, a Humboldt Speed Skating member, took the weekend off drumming for the punk rock band Groundwire to short circuit his opponents plans of picking up gold. Humboldt coach Craig Dutton said "Nathan beat them like a snare drum. He'll carry a lot of momentum into the Canadian Championships in Dawson Creek in two weeks."
Bernhard set a North American record in the 1000 meter and several Saskatchewan records over the weekend.
